What to check at the viewing
€56,000 is a big ask for a van with 153,000 km, so find out who built the conversion, what it cost and whether there are receipts. There's a lot of gas, diesel and 230 V kit on board — ask for the installation details and any certification. Ask for the service history behind the new wet belt, and confirm the motor caravan entry on the logbook rather than taking it on trust. A 2019 Transit that has just been through a full off-grid conversion and hasn't been used as a camper yet. The build included a new wet belt, new tyres and a fresh coat of paint. On board: a hot-water shower with extractor fan, a sink with hot water, a gas cooker, a fridge, a toilet and a diesel heater, all running from 400 W of roof solar, a 200 Ah battery and a 1,000 W inverter. There's also air conditioning for warm days, a TV with built-in speakers, and USB and USB-C sockets. It's extra-insulated with Armacell and Rockwool, finished with oak wood trim, and set up for three to sleep and three to travel.
